Coronavirus cases in India top two million as daily infections surge

India’s coronavirus crisis has reached a critical point – with soaring deaths and more than two million infections, the country is now recording the highest number of daily cases in the world.
Since lockdown was imposed in March, unemployment has risen to more than 23 per cent – while millions of migrant workers have gone back to their villages. It’s left the Indian economy facing a very uncertain future.
