Workers have been engaged in a series of protests for the past 155 days until Agriculture Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage, visited the Jaffna district, met with protesters and arranged for them to meet the President in Colombo.
Protesters also met with other government representatives where they were promised adequate employment opportunities and the strike was called off.
However due to the lack of accountability, health care workers resumed their protests and plan to continue until authorities grant their demands.
