‘Dialogue in Mexico Will Bear Fruit’, Jorge Rodriguez Says

On Saturday, delegations from the Venezuelan government and the opposition sector continued the second round of political talks to advance Venezuelans' interests.
Referring to the ongoing dialogues with opposition sector representatives in Mexico, Venezuela's National Assembly President and head of the official delegation Jorge Rodriguez highlighted the "arduous effort" to ensure Venezuelan people's economic and social rights.

"We come here to look for mechanisms so that all the Venezuelan people benefit from this dialogue effort," Rodriguez noted.
"We bring points that directly affect the Venezuelans' daily life in the economy, in social matters amid the COVID-19 pandemic. I believe that this work will bear fruit," he added.
On Friday, the Venezuelan government official delegation arrived in Mexico to conduct a second round of negotiations to be concluded on September 6. .
From Aug. 13 to Aug. 16, the Venezuelan government and the opposition sector held the first round of talks, which ended with signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
Besides establishing the need to lift economic sanctions, the MoU rejected any form of violence against the Venezuelan State and the legitimate government of President Nicolas Maduro.
On Saturday, Venezuelan opposition chief negotiator Gerardo Blyde reaffirmed the willingness to continue the political talks while suggesting a humanitarian emergency agreement.
"We have all been affected by blockade measures, robbery, and illegal sanctions. We hope that partial agreements will allow us to move forward and generate a stable floor for the lifting of these crimes against the Venezuelan people," Rodriguez stated.
